What is the impact of the border conflict between Ethiopia and Eritrea on the project?

The border conflict between both countries flared up in June 1998. As some of the catchment areas supported by the project are close to the border and as Tigray is internationally considered as conflict area, German contributions to the project are presently put on hold. The Tigray BoANR is nevertheless continuing project activities and it is expected that the joined project will resume as soon as a peace agreement between both countries is effective.
