| Forest fire fighting is still in its infancy in Indonesia. Proven and reliable strategies are lacking, as are trained fire fighters and equipment. Forest fires erupt frequently in the dry season. The objective of the IFFM project is to prevent destructive fires or to fight them effectively when they start. For this purpose up to 17 forest stations particularly endangered by forest fires are developed into "local fire centers" and equipped with the necessary gear in cooperation with the IFFM-team. Vehicles, heavy equipment and radio communication systems are procured by international bidding. | ![]() |
