Project Description

The FLEGT-FC contributes to the overall objective of the Lao-German and the Lao-European Environment and Natural Resources Programmes and the rural development priority area. The FLEGT-FC’s overall objective is that the rural and poor communities targeted by the European support benefit from healthy and sustainably managed forest ecosystems and secure access to land in line with the voluntary guidelines on the responsible governance of tenure of land, fisheries and forest in the context of national food security.

The main goal of the FLEGT-FC is that forest ecosystems and populations dependent on forest products benefit from the implementation of selected elements of the Voluntary Partnership Agreement (VPA)/ Timber Legality Assurance System (TLAS) and strengthening of the Lao wood processing industry. The FLEGT-FC will contribute to the implementation of FLEGT regulations in Lao PDR based on the VPA with the European Union (EU).

Qualification

  • University degree in forest management, natural resource management or a related field
  • 5 years of professional experience as CTA of implementation projects, in particular FC-financed projects: Knowledge of KfW procedures on development of terms of reference, procurement and contracting
  • 5 years of professional experience in implementing forest management projects, including chain of custody aspects of forest products
  • At least 2 major experiences in Implementing FLEGT/VPA projects or monitoring of forests, timber legality and sustainability
  • Ideally work experiences in Laos or neighbouring countries
  • Excellent English language skills

Application

The job offer refers to an expected position in the above mentioned KfW tender for Lao PDR. The creation of the position is dependent on the award of the contract to DFS within the framework of the KfW procurement procedure.
